DC Coffee Spots

Song: Saturate (feat. River)- Rosito Remix by Ghassemi, River

How to function in NYC= coffee, smoothies, and burgers

How to function in LA= acai bowls, (ice) coffee, salads

How to function in DC= just coffee.

Love that the three major cities can share one thing in common and that is a good ole cup of coffee. Don’t get me wrong, I will always prefer a cup of orange (no sugar, no milk) tea, it is literally perfection. But today were not talking about tea (another time brothers and sisters) today were talking about C-O-F-F-E-E because it’s the bomb dot com …..aaaand it just works miracles like waking up (trust me, getting up is a miracle every single day)

Typically, our first choice for an “ok” cup of coffee  would be a Starbucks or Dunkin Donut, so I decided to help my local DMV companions with a list of 5 DC coffee shops. These were picked because of quality coffee, venue, and overall experience.

1.     La Colombe

Most local DC instgrammers have ranted about this beauty that thanks fully has now 3 locations (Chinatown, Florida ave, and NW). The coffee is very flavorful but still has a bold straightforward taste. It the perfect cup size of perfection. Baked goods are not something I’m attracted to here, but they will compliment your coffee nicely

2.     A Baked Joint

The perfect spot in central DC. When I first encountered this coffee place I was a little bit drawn back due to its busy lines and minimal breakfast items. Little did I know the busy lines were due to its great lattes and cappuccinos. As for their breakfast items, it was pretty basic because it's directed to people who are coming in for a fast munch. The place is great for meet ups or just some alone time since they mostly have communal tables everywhere.

the perfect place to reenact where boy meets girl, fall in love and live happily ever after?

I think so

3.     Baked and wired

Ready to try something different besides Georgetown cupcakes? Then baked and wired is your place to go! Its still located in the fabulous Georgetown area, but hidden from busy M street. I have a special place in my heart for this cupcakery because of it, of course, delicious and rich cupcakes as well as it simple lattes to relax after hustling and bustling all day in the city.

4.     Big Bear Café

You can't go wrong with this one because of its simply your typical DC café, nothing too glamorous but nothing to hipster as well. Their ice coffees are to die for, especially when it's complimented by one of their sandwiches. The greatest thing about this place is the greenery outside! Instagram central!

5.     Pineapples and Pearls

If you cant afford their entrée at least buy a cup of coffee?!

Now most people know what Pineapples and Pearls restaurant is - its one of the most luxurious places to eat in the area, due to their extravagant dishes and drop dead gorgeous venue. Now I know it going to take me a while until I can save up all my pennies from my piggy bank and perhaps purchase the tap water. Until then ill settle for their fine coffee. I added  an additional espresso shot and it sure did the job until midnight. Not one bit of disappointment here.

Enjoy these references and have an amazing week- or at least better than mine (:
